Multi Arcade Game Emulators |
Here you can find multi arcade game emulators for either DOS or Windows.
There are a variety of emulators available. One such emulator is called MAME, which runs
over 470 games, including variants! MAME also has a source code available for
download, just incase you are interested in starting your own emulator, or
would like to write drivers for new games or improve existing ones.
Besure to check out this YM-2203 player made by Ishmair, (author of Rishgar).
It will play the FM sounds from Black Tiger and Ghosts and Goblins.

V1.07 | 6/21/98 | Homepage
Changes for version 1.07
------------------------
1) Added display of frame rate to title bar.
2) Fixed ROM reading to open files as READ_ONLY. Some have reported
problems reading ROM files because CAGE was trying to access them as
READ/WRITE.
3) Squeezed another 10% of speed out of Ms. Pac-Man & Pac-Man.
4) Crush Roller now works; the problem was that it uses undocumented Z80
instructions which I had not previously implemented.
5) Added support for Galaxians; sound not implemented yet.
6) Tweaked Z80 ASM code for even more speed. Now PacMan runs at 650-700
frames per second on my P233. Space invaders goes at 1100-1500 fps.
7) Added support for reading from zipped ROMS; thanks to Brian Levine for
providing the source code.
8) Rewrote inner loop timing logic to make use of the high resolution
timer. This means that 60fps really is 60 instead of 62 or 58.
9) Fixed some of the sounds on Joust - the 6808 was executing code in zero
page RAM which was not accounted for by my 6800 emulator.
10) Fixed hiscore save/restore on PacMan, Crush Roller, Ms. PacMan
11) Rewrote the load/save game functions to work properly. Now you can
load or save a game (up to 5) at any time by pressing F1 to load or
F2 to save.
12) Added joystick support to all games.
13) Added option to use my software stretchblt routine when running
windowed at 2X scale and without DirectX. On some machines, my code
is faster than the Windows GDI.

This update adds:
- Trace play supports.
Show your friends your best play records! Use F9 to record, F11 to play.
Try it now!
- Scanline display option.
This option uses 800x600 display mode for doubling every dots. It will
be a bit slower than the preferred 400x300 hardware double pixel mode.
But if your system happens to have no usable 400x300 display mode, this
could work as a solution.
- Alternate keyboard control set.
- Sound states are put in save game data now.
- Fixed two bugs that caused Gallop to crash at certain places.

The first release of System 16 v0.82 has several problems (most of them related to the new Allegro) this is how to fix them:
- Download the update 0.82a of the emulator here or from the downloads page and try it !
- If your problem still not fixed :
- You still have no sound with an Ensoniq PCI sound card, try to force the parameter -soundcard 7 , this should work.
- If the emulators crashes at startup, try the new parameter -menuvideomode with the value 1 or 4, the default
value is 5. This value is keept in the INI file, so you don't need to uses it at each startup.
Btw, when you have a problem, please send more infos to the authors than the only sentence "the emulator don't works, what's the
problem ?" and please include the following informations if possible, a copy of your System16.ini, a description of your
config and the exacts errors reported by the emulator. Thanks.
